ADOPTED!! Chance “Bubba Nugget”

Everybody loves Bubba! And Bubba loves everybody! He is five years old and heartworm negative now! He is neutered and up to date on vaccines and microchipped. He walks great on a leash and is good in a crate. He has lived outside most of his life so we are working on the house breaking. He must be in a home with no cats! But he’s great with all other dogs, big and small, old and young!

Back in early February, this sad, starved, shivering, injured dog was found on the side of the road, in a ditch, sitting next to a bag of trash, confused and freezing. A good samaritan found him and posted him on a page on Facebook. The person who saved his life was Sabrina Jarman. I contacted her and asked her to take him to Pender Shelter where he would be cared for, treated and neutered until I had a spot for him. Sabrina named him Chance.

When I went to pick him up, I realized how sweet this dog really was. I found out his story from some local people who reached out to me and had the former owner contact me. His former owner had him since he was a puppy and called him DooDoo. After a few years, he gave the dog to his cousin, who used him for breeding and then discarded him on the side of a rural country road when he no longer had any use for him. He clearly didn’t take care of him or feed him like he promised his former owner he would do. After inspecting all of his healing wounds, I came to the conclusion he had been hit by a car. Thankfully his injuries were mostly superficial.

The former owner has been in contact with me asking for updates, but he couldn’t take him back. That was fine by me, because we had some healing to do! But first, he needed a new name, becuase he was so much better than “DooDoo.” Sabrina named him Chance. Once I got to know this sweet boy, I affecionately dubbed him “Bubba Nugget.” The name suits him! Ask anyone who has met him! He loves his nickname and responds with some low howling when you call his name. We discovered he was heartworm positive and after healing his injuries and putting some weight on him, we had the heartworm treatments done and he did great with them. The vet staff and boarding staff all loved him.

Fast forward 4 months to present time, “Bubba Nugget” is now officially ready for adoption! I ain’t gonna lie…I am going to miss this dog like nobody’s business!

Even after all the neglect and rejection after being loved, he has not let any of it phase him in the least! I have rarely met a sweeter dog in all my days! Chance, “Bubba Nugget,” LOVES all humans, big and small. He loves all other dogs, big and small, old and young. This dog literally has the BEST disposition you can imagine@

And now it’s time for my Bubba to find his forever home and bring another family as much joy as he has brought to me.

Four months, and many caring people later, the happiest dog in the world, is healthy and ready for the next part of his journey. Chance has completed his heartworm treatments and is recovered. He is neutered, wormed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. Chance has live outside his entire life. Let’s find him his happily ever after, being a loved and cherished family member who gets to sleep on a soft bed, next to his person!

ADOPTED!! Mesha

***ADOPTED***

Mesha is a 2 year old female pit bull terrier.
She is a petite girl, weighing only 30 pounds. She is spayed, up to date on vaccines, wormed and microchipped. She is heartworm negative.
She was adopted from the shelter when she was a puppy, late 2016 and was returned 2 years later because “she keeps escaping” according to former owners. She has never tried to escape one time since she has been with Roseys Rescue. So not sure why they used THAT excuse! She does whine when she wants to play fetch or get some loving.
She is a REAL sweetheart, and most of the time entertains herself. She is leash trained and walks nice. She is not a destructive dog at all. She has crate anxiety at adoption events and isn’t her “True self” because the setting makes her anxious.
Mesha is all about the water hose and kiddie pool and it’s hard to keep her out of the pool! Mesha responds to be corrected verbally. I have never had to raise my voice with her. She also knows basic commands.
She plays fetch and returns with the toy. She loves to make you laugh! She has a few favorite toys and will bring them to other dogs she likes to play.
She ignores the cats on the property here. We were told she is good with other dogs and good with kids. We waited for 3 weeks before we put her with other dogs to play, to let her decompress and get to know the dogs thru the fence first. Now she plays so well with other male fosters, but is still cautious with the adult females. With new dogs, Mesha acts like she is going to go after them, but she never has hurt another dog yet, because we understand her needs and don’t let her face to face with any until she gets used to their presence.
*******If you are interested in adopting Mesha, or getting to know her better, it is MANDATORY she has a SLOW introduction to other dogs, getting to know them with a barrier between them for up to 2 weeks. Once she knows the dog for a few weeks, then she will play just fine with them. NO EXCEPTIONS.
She doesn’t play rough with other dogs at all and mostly ignores them and would rather play fetch with her human. She is on of my favorite fosters of all time and whoever winds up adopting her, better be prepared for visits by me! ❤
Come and meet her at Pet Supplies Plus – Wilmington, NC , 5954 Carolina Beach Rd, Wilmington, NC – Saturday from 10-4.

ADOPTED!!! Kieran

Kieran is a 5 year old bully. She is a compact little girl, at 46 pounds. She is spayed, up to date on vaccines, wormed & microchipped. She is heartworm negative.
She gets along with other dogs but isn’t fond of cats.
She has lived outside her entire life and was used for breeding, but those days are over! She likely has never been inside a home so probably isn’t housebroken, but she is a smart girl and will pick it up in no time! She walks so nice on the leash, no pulling and is quiet in a crate.
She is a funny little dog and she is SO happy now that she has room to run. She is a real wiggle butt and is very eager to please! She is not destructive at all. Roseys Rescue took this sweet mama in, after a local tattoo artist was made aware of her horrible living conditions. Watching this girl go from uncertain, to a happy, go-lucky gal who loves to make you laugh, has made me proud and happy I agreed to take her in. I LOVE watching a dog “be a dog”. It’s the best thing to witness!
She is so amusing to watch. Y’all are gunna LOVE her!!!
