Volunteer

People volunteer with animals for many reasons, but not everyone is ready for the commitment involved. On the surface, volunteering at a rescue may just look like petting and walking puppies. In reality, rescues need a lot more from their volunteers.

First, contact us and find out what our volunteer needs are. Although many rescues are always in need of extra hands, sometimes we have more than enough volunteers and may have a waiting list.  If you are with an agency who sent you, they must contact us prior to sending out any volunteers.

You will be required to:

Fill out an Application

Attend an Orientation

Make a Tax-Deductible Donation (to cover potential costs associated with volunteering)

Participate in Training Courses

Sign a Liability Waiver

*Understand that working with animals carries a risk of injury, and that it is possible that you may be bitten, scratched, and/or otherwise injured.*

Adoption events are every other Saturday from 9:30-4 at Pet Supplies Plus – Monkey Junction [5954 Carolina Beach Rd.], and the other Saturdays at Pet Supplies Plus – Porters Neck [130 Hays Lane]. We also have special events throughout the year where we could always use some extra hands to help set up, walk dogs, speak with potential adopters, take pictures and break down.

Please review our Dog Handling Guidelines.

We have a set schedule for volunteers, so you will not be able to sign up for just an event or pop in when you have a free day.

We welcome anyone wishing to help with fundraising and helping with posting dogs available for adoption on social media. The current dogs can be found on Roseys Rescue FaceBook Page.

We also have opportunities for volunteering at the facility where the dogs are fostered for Community Service hours required, with prior approval from administrator.

Commitment: We ask our volunteers to commit to 6 hours per month. (One adoption event a month), but we encourage you to help with 12 hours a month (two adoption events a month), for at least 6 months.

Currently we only work with students on Senior Projects through communication via FB or email and in person at adoption events, with time set aside to speak with you.

No one under 18 can volunteer with the adoption events or at the foster facility, due to the types of dogs we foster, to prevent injury to anyone.
